Another Holiday!/Une autre Fête!

This week my regular classes started again after one month without them. However, like last Friday, there is another French Holiday this Friday where the schools and universities close and where no one works. The holiday this Friday, May 8th, is to celebrate the end of the second world war.

Cette semaine mes cours normals ont recommencé après un mois sans eux. Pourtant, comme le vendredi dernier, il y a une autre fête française ce vendredi-ci où les écoles et les universités fermeront et où personne ne travaille pas. La fête cette vendredi, le 8 mai, est pour célébrer la fin de la seconde guerre mondiale.

What's happening?/Qu'est-ce qui se passe?

Since vacations are an important part of the French culture, the radio now talks about the return from the long Easter vacation; that the university students have returned from the two week Easter vacation for re-taking their exams during these ongoing two weeks of exams. These exams are for the first semester students.

Puisque les vacances sont une partie importante de la culture française, la radio dit aujourd'hui au retour des vacances de Pâques longues; c'est-à-dire que les étudiants d'université sont revenus des deux semaines des vacances de Pâques pour rattraper leurs examens pendant ces deux semaines courantes. Ces examens sont pour les étudiants du premier semestre.

In addition, according to the radio news, President Sarcozy is implementing a new reform measure for employing young people in France. He is allocating three million euros towards apprenticeship of university students in their fields of study.
